Calling all parents
· Have Smartphone – Can Spend: Raising Money Savvy Kids in a New Financial World will be the keynote address for the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board's Annual Parent Conference.  The presentation by author/ broadcaster Alison Griffiths will open the conference at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, at Clarington Central Secondary School, 200 Clarington Blvd, Bowmanville. Workshops will follow, on topics including anxiety and stress in children and youth, encouraging the reluctant student, helping teens choose a career, protecting children in cyberspace, helping children with math and reading at home, individual education plans, safe schools and bullying, and the new nutrition policy. The conference will wrap up at 12:30 p.m.  Child minding, continental breakfast and a light lunch also will be available, all at no charge.  Details and on-line registration will be available at [ http://www.kprschools.ca ]www.kprschools.ca in the near future.
· The KPR Board is seeking parents who are passionate about education and student success, to sit on its Parent Involvement Committee.  Three parents from each of the Board’s three regions will be selected at Regional School Council meetings October 18 at 6:30 p.m. at East Northumberland SS, Brighton; October 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Thomas A.
